Day 1: Aug 12, 2013

After a month of modifying and servicing our campervan, we finally set out from John’s mom’s house on the morning of Monday, August 12. After our goodbyes to John’s mom Patricia and her kitty Sweetie, we drove off into the sunrise.

Our first planned stop was the nearest Sugarloaf Mountain. Sugarloaf is a pet name I sometimes use for John. I’ve hiked a couple of Sugarloaf Mountains in New York, and when we first started planning where to go on this road adventure we talked about making a goal of hiking all the Sugarloaf Mountains in the US.     I’m sure it doesn’t actually say this, but the strange house with the arrowheads and the giant sculpture on top of the alligator that’s bitten off someone’s leg looks like it says “State National Tampons” 🙂
